Welcome

We are based in the Department of Biochemistry, University of Oxford. with some group members also at the University of Southampton. Our research involves the application of a computational techniques to the study of biological membranes (particularly bacterial membranes) at the molecular level. Our bacterial work has a now extended beyond the membranes, to capturing the complexity of the cell envelope architecture. We also have a keen interest in the role of the membranes, cell wall and the proteins and other macromolecules that reside within the cell envelope, in the development of antimicrobial resistance. Another key area of research is the application of knowledge gained from studying biological systems to aid the design of synthetic systems for applications in bionanotechnology, such as DNA sequencing devices through our ongoing work with Oxford Nanopore Technologies Ltd
